New York city mayor bill de Blasio on Thursday took part in putting on the asphalt the inscription Black Lives Matter (BLM, from the English. "black Lives matter") on a section of Fifth Avenue near The trump Tower. This is reported on the mayor's Twitter page, reports TASS.

The section of Fifth Avenue between 56th and 57th streets in Manhattan was closed on Thursday. "The population of our city doesn't just draw letters on Fifth Avenue. We are committed to the message, " de Blasio wrote. The inscription, made in bright yellow paint, covers about a third of the roadway and is clearly visible from the Windows of Trump Tower.

The 202-meter-high Trump Tower is the headquarters of the Trump Organization group of companies. The same building housed the Republican campaign headquarters in 2016. In early June, bill de Blasio announced that sections of streets with the inscription "black Lives matter" will appear in all areas of new York.

The BLM movement takes a very active part in the mass protests that were accompanied by riots and broke out in many US States after the death in Minneapolis (Minnesota) of an African-American George Floyd.

The police used a chokehold during his arrest on may 25. All four police officers involved in the arrest were dismissed and charged.
